One-off gift

From monetary gifts to physical items, your generosity can make a huge difference to helping transform the lives of our students and make an everlasting impact.

Are you a UK taxpayer? If so, when you “Give” above, or through one of the campaigns to donate, please consider increasing the value of your donation by 25% with Gift Aid at no additional cost to yourself.

Gift Aid allows the University to reclaim basic tax rate on your gift – this means for every £1 donated; Staffordshire University can reclaim 25p of tax.

At Staffordshire University we are always grateful for teaching apparatus and items that can be used to enhance the student and community experience.

Our library is ever expanding, and we have received books that are rare, no longer in publication and/or are beneficial to the subjects taught.

The Iris Strange collection relates mainly to the campaign in Britain to secure pensions for war widows and comprises a significant amount of personal and official correspondence between Iris Strange and war widows, bequeathed by Iris after her death in 1992.

The Betty Smithers Design Collection (BSDC) is a teaching collection of mainly 20th-century objects from fashion, costumes and textiles to advertising literature.

How does Gift Aid work?

The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. You must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that Staffordshire University will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor therefore Staffordshire University can reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 you give after 6 April 2008.

If you pay income tax at the higher rate, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return if you wish to receive the additional tax relief due to you. If you do not complete a Self-Assessment return, you can give the details on form P810 Tax Review – available from your Tax Office.

Do I need to sign a Gift Aid declaration?

If you are donating via giving.staffs.ac.uk, you do not need to sign a Gift Aid declaration form. Instead, please read the tick box section on gift aid when making a donation.

If you are donating by post and wish to use gift aid, you will need to make a Gift Aid declaration (PDF). The Gift Aid declaration can cover gifts you have already made and/or gifts you may make in the future. You may also wish to consult the printable Gift Aid guidance notes (PDF).

See www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities for further information.
